The Harris Family General Pregnancy Updates

1/15/10 (6w4d)-
First appointment with the midwife. Had a fun time being poked and prodded. Had a breast exam, a pelvic exam and a pap. Also got seasonal and swine flu vaccinations. Also, got orders for an ultrasound and bloodwork.

1/19/10 (7w1d)-
Was so happy to get my ultrasound! Baby looked wonderful and I really think it's a girl! We'll see, though. (You can see the ultrasound photo here) Also had 6 vials of blood taken, which was hard for me since I don't do well with needles. And last but not least, gave a urine sample. I'm pregnant, not dealing with a terminal disease, for crying out loud! Crazy!

They just wanted me to come in to talk about my test results, which all came back normal. Apparently they haven't heard of phones. The good news is that I am now immune to rubella again, after losing my immunity sometime between when I was pregnant with Krysta and when I got pregnant with Asher. I got immunized again after Jordan was born. Pretty boring and pointless appointment.

2/5/10 (9w4d)-
The main reason for this appointment was to see if we could hear the heartbeat. I'm not sure why they brought me in so early... I've always gone in closer to 12 weeks for this. We tried for a few minutes but couldn't get it. They said I could come back in 2 weeks and we could try again or we could just wait the full 4 weeks. I decided to wait since I'm having an ultrasound in 3 weeks anyway for the first trimester screening. Otherwise, good appointment, blood pressure good and weight down another pound.

2/16/10 (11w1d)-
In the hospital for suspected gall bladder problems. Nothing ever came out of it and the pain remains a mystery. I did get to see all of my organs, though, and got another peek at our little one. You can see the picture here.

2/26/10 (12w4d)-
Ultrasound and bloodwork again. Baby looked great! And, although this was my 3rd time seeing the heartbeat, I got to hear it finally, too. Music to my ears! We are about 80% sure that it's a girl, too. Won't find out for sure until later on. You can see the pictures here, here, and here.

3/3/10 (13w2d)-
Regular check-up. Aside from being confused with a patient of theirs who is 37 weeks, it was a pretty routine check-up. Got to hear the heartbeat again, which sounded wonderful! The heart rate was about 156 bpm. The ultrasound results were normal. The blood test results weren't back yet, but we're not expecting anything to come from that, either.

3/27/10 (16w5d)-
Had an ultrasound to find out the gender and it's definitely a girl! You can see the picture here. We are thrilled! What a great birthday gift! :o)

3/31/10 (17w2d)-
Regularly scheduled check-up. Not much to report. Everything looked good and we scheduled my 20 week ultrasound.

4/17/10 (19w5d)-
Re-do of the gender ultrasound since they would only say 95-98% sure girl. The still gave us the same answer but we are 100% sure this is a little girl. You can see the pictures here, here and here.

4/21/10 (20w2d)-
Anatomy ultrasound through my dr's office today. Made sure everything looked good with her. She looked healthy to me but I'll find out the official results next week at my check-up. You can see the pictures here and here.
